Take Pride in Your Money & Mortgages
Each year June is dedicated to Pride in many countries of the world, with crowds of more than a million people gathering together. This is the season for celebrating LGBTQ+ identity and raising awareness of the social and political inequalities surrounding sexuality. This year, due to the coronavirus pandemic, the Pride Month 2020 parades will not be going ahead. Instead, even though Pride month is over, many virtual alternatives have popped up online and ‘Pride will be inside’ with the main week of events running from Sunday 28th June 28 to Sunday 5th July.
Sen Raj, Amnesty International’s Rainbow Network committee member has said, “Around the world, the pandemic is having a disproportionate effect on LGBTI+ people who have been historically discriminated against in their access to healthcare, housing and employment.”
At Money & Mortgages, we support the Pride movement and LGBTQ+ community in celebrating our diversity and equality during these challenging times.
Stephen Seward, Mortgage & Protection Advisor CeMAP comments, “Over the years I’ve known many same sex couples and members of the LGBTQ+ community who’ve been afraid to openly discuss their financial matters and personal life to their advisors because of how they think they would be judged or perceived, with fear of been declined or turned away. If you are trusting your financial assets and life plans with this person, why wouldn’t you want to feel totally comfortable with who you are dealing with? Your financial goals are vitally important.”
The impact of Covid-19 has been colossal to say the least. If you’re wondering what affect this will have on your chances of getting a mortgage, remortgage, or rethinking your financial planning in general, we would urge you to seek a financial advisor who you can trust to provide you with the services and advice that you need to accomplish your specific goals.
